France Delays Decision on Deal with Russia

Unit 5
Due to the crisis in Crimea and the obvious Russian involvement in the crisis, France has delayed making their decision on whether or not to do continued military business with Russia.  Russia is expecting two aircraft carriers, the first to come in October.  Russia is going to demand compensation if the deliveries are not made.  French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius called the issue in Crimea, "the most serious crisis since the end of the Cold War."  The canceling of the deal with Russia would only be made if there were a third round of sanctions against Russia.
I think that every country needs to be wary of Russia.  If they are making deals with Russia, especially deals that involve the trading of military equipment, they should probably evaluate the situation and consider stopping trade with Russia.  We don't want Russia to have all the best military equipment if a war starts.

  1. It's really weird, because all of these struggles in Asia have been slowly isolating Russia from the rest of the world. They once were so powerful and influential, but now they've lost a lot of that power. More and more countries have been separating themselves from Russia and if they continue this way, Russia's power will completely diminish and they won't have anyone to turn to for help. Maybe that's why Russia is so desperate to get China on their side. It will be very interesting to see how all of this ends.

  2. Yeah it's actually really sad. They're losing a lot of credibility over the issue in Crimea. They are losing respect while they're trying to gain it.

  3. I wonder where Putin's logic is coming from. Where is his ideology? We're pretty certain that he is the one running things. Doesn't he see that the only way he'll get things to become better is if he takes over the entire democratized world? I know that this is extreme, but in seriousness, Putin's plan only has one destination: Failure.

  4. I think instead of treating Russia as such a black-and-white enemy, we need to be taking a more diplomatic approach to solving this problem so that there is no need for any war or any enemies.

    1. I think we should be fierce and slap Russia with some combat and war for their unlawful actions towards Ukraine for Crimea. No need to be nice with them again because we were already to nice when Georgia fell victim to Russia. Who's next? Moldova?

  5. Russia is kind of asking for this. In what they are doing they are creating several enemies and it is really unfortunate for them. If they continue to make choices like they have been, especially with issues like Ukraine, then they are going to slowly loose all their Allies and then they wont be in a good position. They need to think instead of being so dang greedy
